Chlorine Generators, also known as salt generators, salt chlorinators, salt cells, or SWG systems, work through the electrolysis process. In this process, a diluted brine solution (salt water) is passed through an electrolyzer cell where a low-voltage DC current converts the salt into chlorine in the form of sodium hypochlorite and hypochlorous acid. These compounds are highly effective disinfectants commonly used for sanitizing swimming pools and water systems.
The system uses only common salt as the primary input chemical. During electrolysis, sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is produced instantly, typically generating 0.2% to 0.8% of Electro Hypo depending on the application.
